MS-CAS Offering Emotional Support
We offer support to all family members through our counselling team. Those who are newly diagnosed or had MS for a while and anyone who is caring for someone. Also other family members including young people and children. MS can be tough to cope with for everyone.
Appointments are for 6 sessions (each one an hour) and home visits are available.
MS-CAS offers support with fees to members of the group, therefore ask for a minimum contribution of £10 per session. There is support for those who are in severe financial difficulty.
Counselling is having the opportunity to off-load anxieties, complicated feelings or worries to someone who isn't family but does have the experience and sensitivity to listen to you and offer new ways to cope. Taking time out for yourself, to talk things through confidentially, and being accepted in a non-judgemental way.
It is not the same as going to a doctor or 'expert' who will tell you what to do. It is not about making you say or reveal something that you are uncomfortable with.
If you would like to know more about the counselling service we offer through the Macclesfield MS Community Action and Support Group please contact me either via email or telephone.
